Why are we gathered here in this room, and for what purpose? We clearly have concerns; we yearn for something; we are not content with the way we live. Because, undoubtedly, there is something that moves us internally, something intimate; otherwise, we wouldn’t be here, in this place. We must distinguish between the INTIMATE and the ESSENCE; the Essence itself, we could say, to summarize, is a fraction, so to speak, of the Intimate within us.
Unfortunately, the Essence is bottled up among the psychic aggregates.
These additions personify our psychological defects. Undoubtedly, every defect, even if invisible to the external senses, is duly personified.
In a very ancient past, the Essence was not confined, it was free; it manifested itself fully through our daily lives, through our senses. Then HUMANITY WAS INNOCENT, sublime, beautiful; neither good nor evil was known, everything belonged to everyone, and each person could eat from their neighbor’s tree without any fear.
In those ages, people were in contact with the creatures of the higher worlds. In such times, the elementals of fire, air, water, and earth were visible and tangible to every human being…

They spoke in the purest dawn of the Divine Language, which, like a river of gold, flows beneath the dense jungle of the Sun. There existed an ineffable Cosmic Language, in which the Elohim speak, in which all the Elementals of Creation speak…
That was the Primordial Language… It’s grammar is perfect; that’s obvious. For example, if I wanted to tell you in the Sacred Tongue, “that I will remain here a while longer to give you the Teachings, fulfilling my duty,” I would say: “Samael Aun Weor, MASLEIM URIM SEIDUA.“ But if I wanted to say that I will continue fighting, even if it requires many sacrifices, I would say: “LUTENER AEODON”…
That phrase that appeared on the inscription on the wall at Belshazzar’s famous banquet, and which Daniel interpreted, is pure Sacred Tongue: “MENE, MENE, PHARES UPHARSIN.” It could also be said: “Om Mene Tekel Phares Upharsin,” meaning: “Your kingdom will be given this night to the Medes and Persians”; and we know well that Babylon, that night, fell into the hands of the Medes and Persians…
Then from his presence the hand was sent, and this writing was inscribed. And this is the writing that was inscribed: Mene, Mene, Tekel, and Parsin. – Daniel 5-24
Thus, in times past, people spoke in that precious language. Humanity was innocent; any human being in the Golden Age, in the heart of Lemuria, could clearly perceive half of a Holtapamnas. A Holtapamnas has about five and a half million shades of color and was perceptible to any human being.
The Initiates, those who had been esoterically educated, could clearly perceive an entire Holtapamnas, except for one tone, which can only be perceived by the Infinity that sustains everything, the All-Merciful, the All-Knowing and All-Penetrating Eternal Common Cosmic Father.
In Lemuria, approximately 300 consonants and 51 vowels were commonly used. Over time, eyesight atrophied, and speech diminished. The sense of smell also declined significantly, degenerating, and after the sinking of Atlantis, the human race definitively plunged down the path of degeneration.
Now, only the seven basic colors of the Solar Spectrum and a few shades are perceptible; that is the stark reality of the facts.
A dog has a better sense of smell than we ever could; with its scent, it can follow its master’s tracks. An eagle can spot a lizard thousands of feet in the air and swoop down to catch it. There are animals whose spiritual attainments, whose achievements of being, are better than ours; that is the stark reality.
So, the time has come, it is important to know, that we are walking the Path of devolution, of degeneration. When the Essence was free, it was awake; then all Light was within us; it was said that we were in Eden. But when the Ego arose within us, the Essence became trapped within the self.
When the Essence was free, true FAITH EXISTED, a product of true Knowledge, but when the Ego arose and the Essence became trapped within it, undoubtedly, Faith was lost; today skepticism reigns supreme over the face of the Earth.
It’s important to know that since the 18th century, skepticism has gained considerable strength among all of humanity, poisoning human minds. Before the 18th century, people in Spain clearly saw, off its magnificent coast, the famous Nontrabada or Hidden Island; an island about which many legends exist. It is an island of the Fourth Vertical, an island located in the Jinas or Yinas State.
But since skepticism rotted, let’s say, human minds, from the 18th century onwards, the Nontrabada became invisible; nobody sees it anymore, and it exists, but nobody sees it.
Talking about elementals or elves to the primitive inhabitants of Ireland, in the time of the Hyperboreans, was as natural as talking about chili peppers, onions, or potatoes is for us today. People lived alongside the elementals; today, intellectual scoundrels laugh at all such things. “Tales for little children!” they say…
Our past generations were a little different. Children were given fairy tales to keep them entertained, and there’s no doubt that these stories prepared their minds for the perception of the elementals.
Today, children are given gifts that involve all sorts of adventures: things that reek of war, things that reek of guns, crimes, robberies, and so on. In short, children are being prepared from childhood to become murderers, thieves, and fifty thousand other things.
Thus, as time goes by, the Ego has gained more and more strength, and the Essence, the Consciousness, has become more and more imprisoned within the Ego.
Nowadays, when a person is born, it’s obvious that the Essence manages to express itself to some extent. It is well known that every normal, ordinary person possesses 97% subconsciousness and 3% consciousness or free Essence.
Upon coming into the world, upon returning, upon coming back, upon reintegrating, that 3% of free Essence permeates the fertilized egg and manifests in the body of the newborn. The 97% Subconscious Essence is trapped among the Egos, the psychic aggregates; it has no opportunity to express itself.
Thus, what is expressed in the child is the free essence, the small percentage of free essence; that gives him self-awareness, conscious objectivity.
A newborn child is self-aware, but the adult believes the newborn is unconscious, unaware of anything, and is mistaken. The newborn, in fact, is different: he sees the deplorable state in which the adults find themselves; he is not unaware that the adults are asleep, it sees them as they are; he is awake.
The egos or psychic aggregates (or whatever we call them), personifying errors, circle the cradle of that child, coming and going; they would like to enter that body, but they don’t have the opportunity. How so? It is interesting to see that only the pure, free, Self-Aware Essence manages to express itself through the child; that is why the child is awake.
Sometimes the creatures laugh, but with whom do they laugh? With their own I’s that come and go. Other times they are frightened when they see their egos in very ugly forms. They also often see relatives from their past lives, remembering their previous existences; they are ignorant of nothing, and that is wonderful.
In the times when the Ego had not yet arisen in the human species, we were all like children; we could SEE THE ANGELS, the Gods, the Ineffable Beings and talk with them face to face.
When the ego developed, that happiness was lost. Likewise, when a child is born, initially his essence manifests, but later things change: the egos begin to express themselves through the personality, and eventually, the essence is left deep down, forgotten.
Unfortunately, through the education we receive from our instructors and the example of our families, our personality develops. Undoubtedly, this personality comes to constitute something like a double consciousness, or rather, a false consciousness.
Personality includes the habits that have been instilled in us, the habits we’ve formed, the doctrines we’ve been taught, the concepts we’ve developed, the education we’ve received, and so on. For this reason, the personality displaces the true consciousness; the consciousness is relegated to the depths of oblivion, without the opportunity to manifest itself. The only thing that is expressed through us is the false consciousness, the false personality.
Thus, the False Personality acts mechanically. It has a mechanical answer for every question; it lives according to its habits, its concepts, its opinions, its lower emotions, its instincts, its animal impulses, and so on.
The activities of our human personality are unconscious, mechanical. Our personality knows nothing about what true consciousness is; we are ignorant of it.
Our life is entirely mechanical; it works, yes, but mechanically, due to the LAW OF ASSOCIATIONS. It’s similar to driving a car: You’re driving your vehicle through the city streets and all the machine’s movements are carried out automatically. You simply move certain levers and the machine works, it moves; we travel thousands of miles, without being at all aware of how the different parts of the machine are working.
The person who sits down to play the piano is inspired, makes the notes vibrate beautifully, is enraptured by ecstasy, but what does he know about the piano’s mechanism? How is the mechanics of his fingers working when he moves the keys? How does all its biomechanical functioning work? He is ignorant of that. He is in ecstasy making its melodies vibrate, and that is all.
Likewise, Consciousness, at its core, vibrates with the entire Cosmos; but what does the Personality know of this? OUR LIFE UNFOLDS WITHIN A TOTAL SUBJECTIVE MECHANISM.
We know nothing about Reality; we have no awareness of the mysteries of life and death; we do not know why we act, why we live, what we work for, or what the purpose of our existence is. We are immersed in the most profound ignorance.
False consciousness has displaced true consciousness. This glittering false consciousness can sometimes be, let’s say, surprising; but, obviously, it functions mechanically. To put it more plainly, we are mechanical puppets, mere robots programmed for this or that profession, this or that art, this or that trade, or that job.
You’re programmed: you’re put in kindergarten according to a specific program; then you go to elementary school according to the program; to middle school, to high school, and if you’re very lucky and your brains are a bit sharp, you go to university, still programmed. Finally, you get a degree, that’s obvious, and it helps you “earn a living,” as we say. But, in the end, you’re nothing more than a programmed robot, and that’s all. Consciousness hasn’t intervened at all in that whole program.

In this entire program, the Personality, which is the true robot, functions; it is not programmed for esoteric matters, it has not been programmed to study the Mysteries of Life and Death; nor has this human robot been programmed to study, for example, anything related to the Subtle Forces of Nature. If we add to that the fact that the Essence is trapped, bottled up within the Ego, then there is no Faith; where will Faith come from if the Ego has no Faith? Conclusion: A robot without Faith, burdened with many doctrines, that knows nothing about itself or about others; that is the stark reality, and it is truly lamentable.
The time has come for us to care a little more about ourselves; the moment has arrived for us to try to EXPLORE OURSELVES in order to KNOW OURSELVES, only in this way, truly, will we be able to achieve the awakening of Consciousness.
It is good to know that, today, our CENTER OF GRAVITY is established, exclusively…, that is, our Magnetic Center is completely established in the Personality.
It is necessary for that Magnetic Center to change its location: To take it out from the Personality and ESTABLISH IT IN THE CONSCIOUSNESS; that is obvious.
Yes, as we disintegrate the undesirable elements that we carry within us, the Personality will become more passive and the Essence or Consciousness more active.
When all the undesirable elements that we carry within us are reduced to cosmic dust, Consciousness will be one hundred percent active, and the Personality totally at peace; it will then become the vehicle of Consciousness: When that happens, WE WILL POSSESS OUR SOUL.
Now you will be able to understand the profound meaning of that phrase from the Gospel that says:
In patience you will possess your souls… Luke 21:19
Today, we cannot say that we possess our Soul. On the contrary, the Soul possesses us; we are a heavy burden for our Soul; we are like a cancerous tumor for our Soul.
But when we completely destroy the Ego, then liberated Consciousness, pure Essence, will manifest through our human being with all the dominion of ancient times; it will speak again in the Purest Language of the Divine Tongue, which “like a river of gold, flows beneath the dense forest of the Sun”; it will see again the Gods of Fire, of Air, of Water, of Earth; the Princes of the Elements will open for us the gates of their Paradises. WE WILL HAVE RETURNED TO THE PARADISIACAL STATE.
It will be then that we will truly possess our Soul, when we will truly be all Soul; even our very human body will become Soul and we will be one hundred percent SOUL.
Let us compare that state with our present reality, with this artificial, mechanical Personality, trained according to certain customs, programmed like any robot. What can we possibly know about Truth, about Reality, about that which lies beyond the body, emotions, and the Mind? Yet, many believe they know the Truth.
Let us remember the words of Christ: “Know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”… Truth is not a matter of theories, concepts, opinions, or ideas. Someone’s idea about Truth is not Truth; someone’s concept of Truth is not Truth; an opinion, however respectable, in relation to Truth, is never Truth.
Truth is the unknown from instant to instant, from moment to moment; Truth is a matter of DIRECT EXPERIENCE, like when one puts a finger in the fire and gets burned, or like when one swallows water and drowns.
When Jesus Christ was asked, “What is Truth?” he remained silent; and when Gautama Buddha Shakyamuni was asked the same question, he turned his back and withdrew. For Truth is not a matter of words, but of lived experience.
You might feel the ecstasy of a beautiful sunset, but how would you make someone else feel that same ecstasy? Do you think that by describing it they would feel it? This is something you have to feel for yourself, directly…
The time has come, then, to take inventory of who we are, what we have too much of and what we lack, in order to truly work on ourselves, here and now.
Obviously, there are THREE MINDS (and this is something I’ve been talking about a lot in my recent talks).
- The first we could call the “Sensual Mind.” This mind develops its concepts exclusively from the data provided by the external senses, that is, through External Sensory Perceptions.
- The second is the Intermediate Mind, in which religious beliefs reside.
- And the third is the Inner Mind.
What can the SENSUAL MIND know about Reality, about the Mysteries of Life and Death, about the Soul, about the Spirit, about Eternity? Absolutely nothing! It is obvious that it develops its concepts solely from the data provided by the senses. Its vehicle is too narrow and cannot transcend the limits of the Mystical-Sensory World.
The second Mind, the INTERMEDIATE one, however brilliant it may be, only has religious beliefs, but can know nothing about the Truth.
And as for the third, the INNER one, it is closed off. It is the only one that has access to Reality..
Jesus Christ warns his disciples:
Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees. – Matthew 16:5-7
What is the leaven of the Sadducees? The doctrine of the five senses, the materialist doctrines.
And what is the leaven of the Pharisees? The doctrines of the middle mind.
We know very well that the Pharisees go to their Temples so that others may see them; they attend their rites to fulfill a duty, but they never work on themselves; they always occupy the first places in the Synagogues and in the public squares, but “inside they are full of all kinds of decay, and bones, and death”…
What can the Pharisees possibly know about Reality? If one wishes to know anything about Reality, one must open the Inner Mind. This mind, in itself, operates with the data of the Superlative Consciousness of Being. The driving force behind it is something else entirely: the data of Consciousness.
Thus, whoever opens the third mind knows reality; has direct access to the Mysteries of Life and Death, can remember their past lives; can study the Books of the Law, where their own debits and credits are; can come into direct contact with the Gods of the Dawn of the Maha-Manvantara, can talk with them face to face.
Only those who have opened the third mind have faith. Faith has nothing to do with beliefs. Faith is one thing, and beliefs are another. Faith is true wisdom, direct, vivid knowledge of reality; authentic understanding of universal science; pure knowledge, beyond the rottenness of theories.
Those who think that Faith is something like religious beliefs have confused the third Mind with the second. Those who think this way do not truly understand, in depth, Revolutionary Psychology…
There is a need to open the third mind, whatever the cost. And this is only possible by annihilating the psychic aggregates. That is the obvious path to follow.
But in this matter of annihilating the undesirable elements that we carry within us, there must be a fundamental Didactics and a vivid Dialectics: THE DIALECTIC OF CONSCIOUSNESS.
Much has been said about Dialectics, but what is truly important is the Dialectic of Consciousness, the vivid events of the Superlative Consciousness of Being.
We truly need, I repeat, to begin to psychologically OBSERVE OURSELVES, if we truly yearn, one day, to release the Essence, to return to the Original Paradisiacal State.
Psychological self-observation is fundamental; that much is clear. In the realm of practical life, we can discover ourselves; that much is obvious. In the realm of practical life lies the psychological training ground of our own existence.
Without the psychological gymnasium, self-discovery is impossible. It is in the psychological gymnasium of life where we can discover ourselves.
The interrelation is formidable: Undoubtedly, in relation to our family members, our co-workers, our friends on the street, at school, etc., the defects we keep hidden emerge spontaneously; and if we are in the STATE OF ALERT PERCEPTION, ALERT NOVELTY, then we see them as they truly are.
The discovered defect must be analytically judged, and subsequently eliminated… (inaudible)…To the Masters Gurdjieff, Ouspensky, Collins, Nicoll, etc., etc., etc., we will discover, with deep sorrow, a grave error: It so happens that Gurdjieff spoke out against the fiery serpent of our magical powers, and left his disciples unarmed.
The “Institute for the Harmonious Development of Man” in Paris, in fact, is a failure.
Gurdjieff popularized the Doctrine of the Multiple I’s (he brought it from Tibet; it is not his own, the Doctrine of the Many comes from Tibet, and those of us who have delved into Tantric Buddhism know this), but he made a mistake: speaking out against Kundalini…

It is good for you to know that there are TWO SERPENTS: The one that ascends through the spinal cord to the brain, and the one that plunges from the coccyx into the Atomic Infernos of man. The first is called “THE KUNDALINI,” the second, “THE ABOMINABLE KUNDABUFFER ORGAN.”
The one that rises is the Bronze Serpent that healed the Israelites in the desert and the Serpent that coiled around the Rod of Asclepius, the God of Medicine.
The one that descends is the Tempting Serpent of Eden, the horrible seven-headed Python that crawled through the mud of the earth, and which Apollo, in his anger, wounded with his arrows. This last one is the one that has humanity mesmerized.
The various psychic aggregates that we carry within us, and within which Consciousness is embedded, are the nefarious result of the hypnotic power of the abominable Kundabuffer Organ, the descending Serpent.
Now you will understand why that horrible Python has hypnotized, on a massive scale, all of humanity.

But to attribute to the Bronze Serpent that healed the Israelites in the desert the fatal hypnotic power of the horrible Python that crawled through the mud of the earth is in fact one hundred percent absurd.
If humanity is not taught about the ascending Serpent, it will undoubtedly be unable to disintegrate the undesirable elements it carries within.
For this reason, the highly respected and venerable Master Gurdjieff committed a grave error: He taught the Doctrine of the Many just as the Lamas teach it in the lands of Tson-kapac; however, he did not provide the poor disciples with the necessary tools. If he denied them the weapons, how will they destroy the psychic aggregates, the Egos? The Mind cannot do it. Krishnamurti himself acknowledges this, so what then?
ONLY THROUGH THE FIERY SERPENT of our magical powers, IS IT POSSIBLE TO DISINTEGRATE THE inhuman PSYCHIC AGGREGATES that we carry within us.
I am speaking to you in light of lived experience; and I am going to repeat, this time, a story that I have repeated many times; but sometimes such repetitions are necessary, for the good of the students themselves…
Many years ago, I struggled with a lustful ego. Being outside of the physical realm, I was subjected to numerous tests of chastity, and I failed. In the physical world, however, I always emerged victorious.
I led an ascetic life: total control of the senses and the mind. But outside the body things changed; when I was put to the test, something would arise in my mind: an ancient, lustful self, and then I would fail miserably.
I turned to the systems of Krishnamurti and Gurdjieff: a profound, deep understanding through inner meditation. Trying, through meditation, to understand the process of lust and desire.
Undoubtedly, the Power of Discernment, delving deeper, became extremely penetrating; it was like the surgeon’s scalpel, trying to extract the root of a cancerous tumor; but all proved useless…
One day, in deep meditation, I was trying to discern what the process of lust is, trying to understand what that Self is (according to the systems of Gurdjieff, Nicoll, Krishnamurti, and many others), when, unfortunately for me, an unusual phenomenon happened to me: Since the concentration was too penetrating, I left the physical body, and entered, therefore, that world that we would call “Astral”.
Then, I found myself inside a luxurious mansion, caressing a lady, loving her, making her fall in love, etc. Exactly the opposite of what I was doing, the antithesis, as if, through stubborn opposition, that nefarious self wanted to completely destroy my work…
Upon returning to my physical body after the ecstasy subsided, I felt let down. I realized that Krishnamurti’s system (based on pure Understanding), and Gurdjieff’s, and Ouspensky’s, and Collins’s, and Nicoll’s, and those of fifty thousand other authors, were useless; in practice, they had failed…
Undoubtedly, I went through a moment of terrible disorientation; chaos reigned in my mind; I found myself trapped in a dead end. But, fortunately, I received help: Since I have always been concerned with helping others, with sharing the Teachings with others, I deserved to be helped.
How could one receive help if one is not able to help others? But I had been concerned with giving the Teaching to others, so I deserved to be taught.
And one of those many days I received assistance. Upon entering the Temple, I found on the threshold one of the GUARDIANS OF THE SPHINX of Egypt (I knew this Adept; I had been his friend for many centuries). Looking intently at me, he said:
“ Of a group of brothers who worked in the Ninth Sphere, and who, after their work, came to this Temple, you are the most advanced; but now, ” he told me, “ you are falling behind, stagnating.”
My obvious question was:
– Why? Answer:
– Because you lack love.
– What, love? If I’m helping humanity and sharing what I know with my brothers and sisters, with my neighbors, why would I lack love?
– Because you have forgotten your Mother; you are an ungrateful son.
“What?” I said, ” but she passed away a long time ago, where am I going to look for her?” He said:
– Don’t you know where your mother is? I said:
– I don’t know.
“It’s impossible that you don’t know where your Mother is! Listen carefully, what I’m telling you is for your own good; listen to me!”
That’s what the guard said to me; I said goodbye to him…
A few days passed and I continued reflecting, trying, then, to delve deeper into this whole matter. Finally, as the saying goes: “The lightbulb went on”…
One of those many days I remembered DEVI KUNDALINI-SHAKTI, the Fiery Serpent of our magical powers, the Particular Cosmic Mother of each one of us.
And I, who had read so many books, who had read so many authors, truly all spoke of Maha-Kundalini, the Universal Cosmic Mother, but there wasn’t one that spoke of our own particular, individual Cosmic Mother. She exists; she is a variant of our own Being, but a derivative one!
Our Being has many parts, and one of the most important parts of our Being is our own particular, individual Cosmic Mother. “Devi Kundalini,” the Hindus call her; “Isis!” the Egyptians exclaim; “Diana!” the Greeks cry; “Tonantzin!” our ancestors of Anahuac say…
I concentrated deeply on her, and I was assisted. Then, I was taken before one of the COURTS OF THE LAW OF KARMA. The Judge sat down. And as the Holy Scriptures say: “The books were opened”… I took a few steps forward; old medieval accounts (mistakes from past lives) were read to me.
Later, I was able to witness how this I had emerged; I saw the atrocities committed in the Middle Ages. Orders were given to the Cosmic Executioner, and he advanced with his sword resolute…
When I saw him coming, I felt terribly disappointed: “I struggled so much there in the Physical World ,” I said, “to help humanity, to give them the Teachings, and this has turned out to be the result! What good did it do me,” I said , “ to have been giving the Teachings there in the Physical World?” But when the sword was already approaching my chest, I felt a strange movement within the Higher Existential Bodies of the Being, and something came out of me; I observed and saw: Yes, that inhuman psychic aggregate…
The sword that was aimed at me, deflected, and continued to be aimed at that aggregate.
Finally, he plunged into the depths of the world, and I was free. From then on, I was able to emerge victorious in all trials related to Chastity…
That lesson was extraordinary and wonderful for me, and today I share it here with all of you, because what one knows should be shared with others; that is called “Love”…
And I continued working with Devi Kundalini. And that’s how I managed to eliminate all the inhuman psychic aggregates that I carried within me.
Had I not received instruction from the Guardian of the Desert Sphinx, I would have been disarmed. How could I have eliminated those egos? Experience taught me that it is not possible through mere understanding or discernment. I do not deny that comprehending is fundamental, but it is not everything. Elimination is also necessary. Comprehension and elimination are essential. This is how one can advance on the path of disintegrating the undesirable elements we carry within; and only in this way…
Today, we are ignorant, out on the street, knowing nothing. It is impossible to know until the Essence is unblocked; it is impossible to know anything until Consciousness awakens; it is impossible to awaken or unblock oneself without destroying the Ego, the Self, the me.
But there must be order in the work. We all have a sense of psychological self-observation. Unfortunately, this sense is atrophied in the human race. It is necessary that this sense be put to new use.
When one begins to observe oneself, it is because that sense is already becoming active. Initially, one does not see the selves. Later, as that sense develops, one begins to see them as they truly are; and one comes to know, through vivid, direct experience, the result of one’s work.
Although there are multiple Selves, although they do not have any agreement, although they do not have any kind of order, the Inner Being, the deep one (to be clearer, our Divine Cosmic Mother), is establishing an ORDER IN THE WORK.
I say this based on experience. I had to work very hard, first of all with the subhuman Selves of the natural infradimensions; then, with those SELVES OF THE ASTRAL WORLD; later, with the Selves of the MIND and still later with the CAUSE I’s; and finally, with I’s of the very CONSCIOUSNESS OF BEING…
This last point may seem strange to you. I want you to know that before the causes that give rise to egos—the erroneous causes—appear, some atoms of the Consciousness of Being are altered. And these altered atoms become tempting egos. They must be annihilated so that the sovereign Consciousness may be free.
Thus, I was able to understand that an order was established in the Work. It is that the higher aspects of Being, such as Devi Kundalini, and the Father who is in secret, or the particular, individual Shiva, or rather, the particular, individual Brahma who is beyond Shiva, had established a marvelous order.
As one progresses in self-observation, surprising events occur: One day, for example, we might find ourselves in the astral plane; our physical body lies asleep in bed. Then we discover, with astonishment, a vile and new self.
Perhaps a self driven by jealousy that we thought we no longer had, perhaps an I driven by anger that we thought we no longer possessed, perhaps an ego driven by envy that we thought we had never had.
That event… …made me work. And from that moment on we dedicated ourselves to working, first to comprehend and second to annihilate that new I.
Another day, it doesn’t matter which one, another defect emerges that we never even remotely suspected. We must work on that one until we eliminate it.
At a gathering of friends, we suddenly found ourselves arguing about something; perhaps our pride had been wounded. More than enough reason to work against the ego of self-love.
As we structure our work, we will see that it has an order.
Then, what we could call WORKING MEMORY is formed within us.
Each version of ourselves we’ve seen provides a psychological snapshot; and much later, if we gather together all those versions we’ve seen through various psychic events, we’ll have a picture of ourselves, of what we were. If we compare that picture of what we were with what we are now, we’ll notice the change and never again want to be who we once were. All of this is the result of the Working Memory.
Within ourselves exist impenetrable, profound, abysmal DARKNESS. And as these egos disintegrate, Consciousness, which is LIGHT, will make its way through that Darkness; but the deepest Darkness does not comprehend it…
Let us recall that phrase from the Gospel that says: “The Light came into the darkness, but the darkness did not comprehend it”…
And the Light makes its way through the abyssal depths of our own being. And at last, the Light triumphs over the Darkness. “Light is Consciousness; Consciousness is Light.” But people do not understand this: the intimate relationship that exists between LIGHT AND CONSCIOUSNESS, between Consciousness and Light…
A day will come when the Light within us will have triumphed, and then we will be ENLIGHTENED. Darkness is Unconsciousness; Light is Awakened Consciousness. When Light triumphs over Darkness, we will shine in infinite space. We will have truly become Masters of Samadhi, true Enlightened Masters, true Radiant Masters…
The state we find ourselves in now is one of profound darkness. We are miserable robots, as I already said, programmed, unfortunately.
The time has come to understand these things; we must begin to observe ourselves psychologically. First and foremost, we must admit that we have a particular psychology. People readily accept that they have a physical body because they can touch it; but most do not accept that they have a particular psychology because they cannot see it. The sensual mind cannot see the intimate psychology.
But when someone accepts that they truly have a psychology, they begin to observe themselves. Those who begin to observe themselves already offer hope; they already become different from others.
Someone who is being observed can undoubtedly change if they so choose.
But until he begins to see himself, he will continue with a dormant consciousness, in profound darkness; and that is regrettable…
Practical life is wonderful: We can observe our attitudes—what are they? There is an intimate relationship between attitudes and events. An event, however serious, could become wonderful if we adopt a good attitude. A circumstance, however magnificent, could turn negative and harmful if we adopt the wrong attitude.
The attitude we adopt at every moment is crucial. How do we behave, for example, toward an employee at a store, a hardware store, or a haberdashery? In what way?
Perhaps we’re upset because they didn’t bring us the exact merchandise we asked for, because he’s slow; because he doesn’t understand us, we look at him angrily, right? And we even scold him. We’d like to change him, when in truth it’s we who need to change, we’re the insolent ones. We’re probably conceited; that’s why we look at the shopkeeper or the store employee that way.
Arrogance has so many phases; it is the worst enemy of ego dissolution! If one becomes arrogant about the virtue of chastity, one actually loses it.
He who says, “I am chaste, I am working in the Ninth Sphere, I am one hundred percent Gnostic!” is unquestionably, at heart, a perverse fornicator.
He who says: “I have already attained humility, I have no pride towards anyone; I get along well with everyone, even the most unfortunate person I esteem and appreciate; I welcome all people into my home”…
Well, he who so boasts of the Virtue of Humility, undoubtedly resembles Aristippus, that philosopher from Greece, who, putting on a tunic with tremendous holes (to demonstrate his Humility to everyone), took up the staff of Philosophy and went through the streets of Athens; and arriving before Socrates, the latter exclaimed: “Oh Aristippus! Your vanity is seen through the holes in your garment!”
It is said of Diogenes Laertes that, entering the house of Socrates, he stepped heavily and said:
– Tread on your pride, Socrates, tread on your pride! Then Socrates replied:
– Yes, Diogenes, with your pride you trample on my pride!
Therefore, let us not be filled with conceit, because that defect is the worst enemy of the dissolution of psychic aggregates.
There are TRUE VIRTUES and FALSE VIRTUES. Virtues are like precious stones: some are true and others are false; an imitated virtue is a false virtue. For example, if one aims to be serene, gentle of heart, and without anger; if one aims to imitate the virtue of gentleness, it would appear as if one truly possessed the virtue…
I have known individuals who would say, “I have no anger toward anything!” And when someone insulted them, they would bless and smile, but when I looked at their smiles, I could see that they ended in a grimace of pain. In short: They were trying to imitate a virtue, but they didn’t possess it; they were imitating the virtue of meekness, but they didn’t truly have it.
To attain the virtue of meekness, one must eliminate the egos of anger, which are legion. And that is a long and arduous task.
To attain the Virtue of Chastity, one must eliminate the egos of lust; and that is a serious task, more bitter than gall, which lasts a lifetime; and even several lifetimes.
To attain the Virtue of Tolerance, one must eliminate the I of intolerance; and this is a costly, terrible task.
Imitated virtues are counterfeit stones; they are not real. Only true virtues are authentic, legitimate, and genuine stones.
Therefore, we must annihilate the egos so that the virtues remain within us. And each virtue must be fiercely fought for to attain; it is a precious gem that we must extract from the depths of the abyss with the point of the sword.
Virtue is not a matter of pietistic posturing; virtue is not a matter of feigned meekness, nor of tasteless puritanism, no. Virtues must be attained through countless struggles, fighting with the edge of the sword against the dark forces within us.
“Virtue” comes from the root “vir,” meaning “virility,” “manliness.” Only with virility, only through struggle, can one obtain that precious gem that corresponds to a particular Virtue. You see, the work we have to do is long, hard, and costly…
CHANGE IS NECESSARY. We cannot change unless we eliminate the undesirable elements within us. We need to move to a HIGHER LEVEL OF BEING; even more, we need to ascend from level to level, until we reach the highest of all Levels of Being. And this is only possible by dying to ourselves from instant to instant, from moment to moment.
“Only through death does the new come; if the seed does not die, the plant is not born. ”
AWAKENING, yes, that is wonderful!… All of you would like to see, hear, touch, and feel the great realities of the Higher Worlds, but you are asleep. How could one come to the experience of Reality if one’s Consciousness is asleep? But if one destroys the Ego, Consciousness awakens and then knows Reality.
Unfortunately, the consciousness of human beings is, so to speak, confined within a horrible dungeon, a filthy prison; that is the Ego. But everyone believes they are free, everyone feels free, and everyone thinks they are free. Therein lies the error! Much has been fought for freedom; every nation has its legendary heroes, who shed their blood for liberty on the battlefields. But we remain slaves to ourselves, still prisoners within the Ego.
Unfortunately, people are trapped in the foul atmosphere of their own minds, worshipping their “dear ego,” paying it homage. They might as well place it on an altar with a couple of candles and kneel before it.
“I am strong,” said someone who taught Black Magic to his students.
“I am powerful, I am great,” etc., etc., etc. That’s how they are, that’s what humanity is.
To liberate consciousness is a magnificent thing! One only comes to know what freedom is when consciousness breaks free from the prison in which it is confined and emerges into the light of life, free in its movement.
And one only comes to know the Truth when Consciousness is emancipated. One only comes to know Happiness when Consciousness is freed from the prison in which it is trapped. Before that, one does not know Happiness; one confuses pleasure with Happiness, but one does not know Happiness.
Therefore, I invite you to reflect on these words; it is necessary that you comprehend…
I will now give an opportunity for those who wish to ask questions to do so, and I will gladly answer them…
Questions and Answers
– Student. …An identification with myself, I didn’t think I could get into the conversation… …I projected myself onto the conversation itself, and I began to understand… …I mean, before I’d been reasoning with a certain logic… …and now I started to flow effortlessly, to identify with the conversation…
– Master. There is no doubt that for a moment, the Essence, for a moment, managed, let’s say, to emancipate itself, even if only momentarily, from the Ego, to experience the reality of what we have been discussing here. Any further questions, brothers? Let’s hear it…
– Student. Is it necessary to know, to understand the origin of the Ego from past lives in order to destroy it?
– Master. Obviously, if we were to wait to remember our past lives before beginning to destroy the Ego, we would reach a dead end. Because it is truly impossible to remember all the experiences of past lives if one has not destroyed the Ego.
Let’s begin with immediate, direct psychological self-observation; let’s begin by living in a state of heightened awareness and awareness of novelty, so we can discover our defects, here and now. Let’s work on ourselves moment by moment, and in this way we will completely dissolve the ego. One day, when we are awake, we will be able to remember our countless births; that’s all.
– Student. What is one first, conscious or mystical?
– Master. Well, mysticism is a very natural function of the essence, of being. An individual can be a mystic without having yet awakened consciousness. Moreover, mysticism is necessary; it is a very natural function of consciousness. Whoever possesses mysticism offers some hope… That’s all. Anything else?
– Student. Master, what is skepticism?
– Master. Well, SKEPTICISM IS BASED ON IGNORANCE. Since humanity has not opened the Inner Mind; since humanity is only trapped by the Sensual Mind, which develops its concepts of content exclusively with the data provided by the Five Senses, unquestionably, it can know nothing about Reality.
How could the Sensual Mind know about Reality if it is not programmed for Reality? It is programmed for the external, mystical-sensory world, but not for extra-perceptions, not for the evidence of Being.
Skepticism is a peculiar characteristic of the Ego and the Sensual Mind, a basic function of the Sensual Mind and the Ego. When one opens the Inner Mind, skepticism ends.
But to open the Inner Mind, one must learn to THINK PSYCHOLOGICALLY. Those who know how to think psychologically disintegrate the ego, and then the Inner Mind is opened.
The Inner Mind functions strictly with the data of Consciousness, with the data from the Higher Centers of Being. That is why it has direct access to Reality, to Truth. But the Sensual Mind cannot possibly have access to Reality.
We must beware of the Doctrine of the Sadducees (the Sensual Mind), and of the Doctrine of the Pharisees, who attend their rites, their worship, etc., but without ever intending to work on themselves.
If one turns away from the doctrines of the Sadducees and the Pharisees, and learns to think psychologically, one dissolves the ego and ultimately opens the inner mind. This gives one evidence of reality; it provides one with the data of the knowledge of being; it allows one to experience all that is, all that has been, and all that will be. Then faith arises, which is nothing other than true, authentic wisdom.
– Student. You were just telling us, Master, that when one awakens Consciousness and eliminates the Ego, then one can see the Angels, all the Higher Beings. So, having done that, for example, could one speak with Jesus of Nazareth, for example?
Master. Jesus of Nazareth is a Master who achieved Resurrection. Along with him are many other Resurrected Masters; and anyone who is awake can make contact with these Masters who form the Esoteric Circle of Divine Humanity. But one must be awake to make conscious contact…
